Wire tapping was the title used in earlier days for eavesdropping on phone calls. Phones became wireless and far more complicated and now phone tapping is insufficient to define the complete spectrum of surveillance we undergo.
Last time my phone was tapped was in 2011 by ATS or Anti Terrorist Squad at Mumbai. I was merely representing a client who was arrested to identify a terrorist. My client was merely a pizza delivery boy. Well something like illegal pizza.
This time it is a revenue intelligence department chasing my client. They have no direct evidence to implicate and phone tapping was a desperate attempt. I wonder if it still continues
Problem lies in absence of proper law. Supreme Court of India permitted this intrusion on privacy subject to some guidelines but in the absence of a complete law aimed at preventing illegal tapping, it is a free for all.
A SoudiArab diplomat is unavailable to respond to allegations of purchasing 2 Napalese women, raping them, faliciting them for rapes by his guests, keeping them in confinement and virtual slavery et. al. Are these allegations correct?
According to police medical report corroborate rapes. They raided the residential premises (in a suburb of New Delhi) of diplomat on complaint from a social worker who in turn was tipped off by another new maid in the household. It is alleged that these maids were earlier taken to SoudiArab for a few months. If we go by press reports, the victims state that they were raped by over 20 persons and several times a day. Horrific.
While the diplomatic aspects are unfolding, I have few questions:
1. What is the status of women in SoudiArab? Are they equal to men in all respect with right to hold property? Continue reading
Terrorism: A long battle of humanity?
Terrorist captured in Udhampur J&K.
Terrorism is a major problem faced by humanity. Few decades ago it was perceived to be the problem of Middle East. Then 9/11 happened and bombings in Europe, Africa and where not. Russia had its own share of insurgency and terrorism. In this region it was India’s problem for last several decades while the snakes of terrorism openly harboured by Pakistan. And then the snakes bit Pakistan as well. In substance, terrorism is now an accepted global problem. The fourth world war is happening.
Violence and terrorism:
The political and psychological structure of the human civilisation is structured on violence. Continue reading
Death sentence to a terrorist.
Yakub Memon is a convicted terrorist (for killing 257 people and injuring three times more) and is scheduled to be hanged on 30 July 2015, since his last petition to Supreme Court of India, by way of curative petition has been dismissed. It is not surprising because by very nature remedy of curative petition is to correct or cure a mistake or injustice. However what is appalling is discovery of new facts as revealed by a former intelligence officer. According to these revelations (published in indian express newspaper) Memon is a flipper. He was in conspiracy with Pakistan, for terrorist attack but for the sake of his family’s safety he agreed to flip. Continue reading
Shoot out in USA to kill without provocation
President Obama had misfortune to deliver 14 eulogies in his tenure. Each in respect of civilian death(s) caused by a discontent fellow civilian, without any apparent provocation. No person will envy President Obama. Violence is last expression of discontent. While contentment is like unicorn, it appears we are left to deal with discontentment without the former. About discontent in students, I had expressed my humble observations here. But it would also be the right time to review the Military Type education we provide in our schools. The violence at charleston has a racist angle. It appears that a 21 years old boy with white supremacist mind set opened fire during prayer inside a ‘black’ church. Though not sure, the fact that initially the shooter also joined the victims in prayer makes the violence even more macabre. But who am I to comment anything on it. Continue reading
