Notionpress called nicely.

Publication and education:

A large number of publishers whom I have met were not from literary background. They were book dealers who graduated to publication on the basis of their marketing skills. Historically also the books selling shops were the earliest copyright owners and who approached the Royal Court for a charter on Copyright. Authors’ rights developed rather were acknowledged, much later.

Notionpress and free speech:

Today I received a phone call from Notionpress requesting me to remove the review posted here. The young lady was polite but extremely disappointed when I ended the conversation after explaining that they should concentrate on fixing their services rather than to rely upon the nice manners alone.  Continue reading

Free speech and TV Media Bigotry

The power of the TV:

TV Media is a powerful medium. It’s power lies in moving people to form an opinion without giving all facts or giving just rudimentary facts. Print media does not have this privilege. In the guise of breaking news TV news and say anything and get away with it.

What is bigotry?

This is the definition of bigotry:

“stubborn and complete intolerance of any creed, belief, or opinion that differs from one’s own.”

While I was dozing!

pink-wild-flowerYesterday was a busy day. In the afternoon I dozed off for an hour. It was business as usual thereafter. This morning I discovered that ‘sandeep bhalla’ has become a news item. Somebody from Jalandhar, who share my name had posted morphed photographs of Signora Presidentessa of ruling Congress Party of India, Sonia Gandhi onto Facebook. Morphing pictures is not always palatable. Though many morphed videos of Prime Minister and also Sonia Gandhi were in circulation and on Youtube, for many years, yet as a reflection of maturity, the Government took no action. It appears that now a case has been registered u/s. 66-A of IT Act against Sandeep Bhalla who is from Jalandhar, Punjab. (SBOJ) Continue reading

Art, Obscenity, Philosophy, Poetry and freedom of expression.

Pablo Picasso, a renowned artist said,

Art is never chaste. It ought to be forbidden to ignorant innocents, never allowed into contact with those not sufficiently prepared.

Yes, art is dangerous. Where it is chaste, it is not art.”

Art, to every artist, is a vehicle for personal expression. An aesthetic work of art has the vigour to connect to an individual sensory, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. With a 5000-year-old culture, Indian Art has been rich in its tapestry of ancient heritage right from the medieval times to the contemporary art adorned today with each painting having a story to narrate.

Eroticism in Art in India:

Ancient Indian art has been never devoid of eroticism where sex worship and graphical representation of the union between man and woman has been a recurring feature. Continue reading
