India open to incoming travellers from today.

All except tourists:

The Home Ministry has issued an order that it has been decided to allow all OCC and PIO card holders and all other foreign nationals, (except those on the tourist visa), who wish to visit India for any purpose. They are allowed to enter by air or water.

The Government of India had taken several steps to stop the inward and outward movement of international travelers from February 2020. The government has now decided to grant a gradual relaxation in visas and travel restrictions for foreign nationals and more categories of Indian citizens wishing to enter or leave India.

Foreign and Indian citizens can avail flights to enter or exit the country by the Ministry of Civil Aviation under the arrangement of the Vanda India Mission and Air Transport bubble or under any commercial flights.

However, all such passengers will be required to follow the guidelines related to COVID-19 issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of India. The Home Ministry further announced that all existing visas, except electronic visas, tourist visas and medical visas, are being restored with immediate effect.

Tourism: A Grift called tour management.

It was a sad Sunday. For nearly six years I have never spent so much mental energy as today. I was ashamed. There is a Hindu epic called Ramayana or the story of Rama. The legendary Sita as she is revered as ‘Mother Sita’, when questioned about her chastity roars to mother earth to open her womb so that she may retrace back to her. As the legend has it, the earth splits and Mother Sita descended into her mother and vanished.
I wished whole day but the mother earth did not comply. Certainly because I was guilty. There is no greater guilt than not admitting the guilt. So what was it?

Russian archaeologists discover ancient city in Socotra Island

A new tourist attraction

Galapagos of the Indian Ocean, it’s the world’s tenth richest island for endemic plant species. And the biggest island in the Middle East 125 kilometers in length and 45 kilometers across.

Now Russians have added history to the tourist map of the island.

Socotra is an archipelago of four islands in the Indian Ocean. The largest island, also called Socotra, is about 95 pc of the landmass of the archipelago. The island is very isolated and through the process of speciation, a third of its plant life is found nowhere else on the planet. It has been described as the most alien-looking place on Earth.Botanical field surveys led by the Centre for Middle Eastern Plants – part of the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh – indicate that 307 out of the 825 37 pc plant species on Socotra are endemic i.e. they are found nowhere else on Earth. One of the most striking of Socotras plants is the dragons blood tree Dracaena cinnabari, which is a strange-looking, umbrella-shaped tree. Its red sap was thought to be the dragons blood of the ancients, sought after as a medicine and a dye. (via Russian archaeologists discover ancient city in Socotra Island.)

Should pay a visit some time.
