Today is Vijaydashmi.
This Vijaydashmi has many peculiarities. First the thunderstorm two days ago. We woke up with lightning and heavy showers. For a long time we have not seen so much thunder and lightning. By luck nothing was struck by lightning. At least nothing is in news, so luck is presumed. But the rain in October is very rare.
Rain in October.
Second peculiarity is that it had rained in October last year too. Just before Vijaydashmi or Dashahra.

It appears that clouds and rain had a date with sun. It started with heavy rain which was more of a deluge. We had to take the dots out of emergency water exits. It finally rained today. Summer is skin drying in here. Monsoon, the ethereal, rain-god of weather sciences, was expected to show in New Delhi on 18. We wonder if the right label for the rain is Monsoon or pre-monsoon. Anyway, it started to drizzle at about noon. Unlike the typical start of rainy season, it was a mature shower. Slow but steady.
It is raining cats and dogs since yesterday night. Rain stops for a while but restarts again. The outpour becomes torrential and then it subsides to stop altogether. From where it starts all over again. By noon the rain stopped altogether. However the damage has been done. Whole day traffic was a mess. but now it is all quite.
