Every 14th November is celebrated as Children’s day in India. It is birth day of late Prime Minister Jawahar Lal Nehru. The best part is that there is no study in schools. This certainly is a fun for children. Why and how the late Prime Minister Jawahar Lal Nehru came to become chacha Nehru is not clear but does not matter. It is however said that he used to emphasize the need to protect children and raise them as future of country. The family of chacha Nehru has taken it most seriously and every child in their family is treated as rightful future Prime Minister of the country. Better still, nobody ever had to work for living.
I was however wondering if there is an after life and I could find a way to send an email by hacking into network of afterlife, what would I write to great grand dad of this generation?
Here is my effort: Continue reading →
Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, a Gujarati by birth place, Bania or trader by birth caste, lawyer by education, an unparalleled mass appeal leader by occupation, global enigma as a philosopher and failure as a politician. This is how the Gandhi would be summed up today his birthday in 2013 and a national holiday.
Gandhi was assassinated by a fire arm. A violent death for an ardent propounder of Non-violence.
For every person of Punjabi descent, Gandhi is a person who betrayed Punjab. It is told to me by my parents and grand-parents that in Public Speeches made in East Punjab (Now Pakistan), Gandhi would proclaim that:
“there is no question of partition of the country and if it happens it would be on my dead body.”
As things turned out, Gandhi, was no politician and his own progeny Nehru edged him out of stage and accepted partition of the country on religious lines without any inkling what to speak of vision about the fate of people and the possible exodus. The decision cost Millions to suffer ranging from poverty due to sudden forced migration to rape to death. Women raped and children murdered in cold blood. Continue reading →
Few months ago I was approached by relatives of a person arrested and lodged in Jail with request to represent him. There were severe, albeit contradictory allegations that he had active links with terrorists. His arrest and other events are a different story which is documented elsewhere. Here I share my experience of benefits from phone tapping.
The moment I had a few telephonic calls with these relatives, whose phone were under surveillance (a euphemism for tapping), my phone was also tapped. A few hours later my associate’s phone were also tapped.
Rhetoric and Kites soared high but subsided at the end of day. Speeches delivered more promises made without any remorse or apology for past unfulfilled promises. The protector stood within the protection of Glass while the protectees are to face wind, rain, inflation and capitalism on their own. Who is protecting whom? The pretence goes on. This is:
Independence Day 2012, Celebrated in India, Seen in Bharat; Talked about: Nowhere.
Occasions are made for a purpose. To make a day meaningful, not just eventful. But another opportunity is lost. For people of India and Bharat it is another holiday to immerse them away from problems. People of India now hardly bother to watch futile speeches on television, for they know the annual ritual means nothing beyond weightless words. Bharat has another reason. If their is electricity, it is fun to watch something live. Further, when there is neither adequate food nor water nor electricity, patently false promises are something we want to believe. Like tooth fairy. Now that very little is to be lost, dreams can have no limitations. Once rhetoric is over it is time to get back to daily business. No one debates dreams. It comes in handy to relieve pain, when other hopes have failed. Continue reading →
