50 years ago:
Today marks the completion of 50 years of the 1971 war ie Victory Day. Bangladesh came into existence as a country after this war and India dusted Pakistan. Victory Day is celebrated on 16 December every year to mark India’s victory in liberating Bangladesh from Pakistan in 1971.
Indian Armed Forces compelled 93,000 Pakistani troops to surrender. Pakistani were equipped with supplies to fight for 30 more days. They chose to allow a superior army to decide their fate. Treatment meted to them was exemplary.
