Patients remain infected for several weeks and months after being diagnosed with the corona virus and it is very difficult for experts to predict how long patients will feel fully healthy. Patients who have minor symptoms of infection soon recover from the disease, but elderly and severely infected patients sometimes take three to four months to recover.
The World Health Organization says that patients usually recover from two weeks to six weeks. According to a US study, 20 percent of patients with mild symptoms who were not hospitalized were those with symptoms of the disease at least two weeks after becoming infected.
According to a study conducted in Italy, 87 percent of the hospitalized patients had symptoms of infection, including fatigue and trouble breathing, even two months after being infected. Dr. Khalilah Gates, a specialist in lung diseases in Chicago, said that many of his patients still have symptoms of the disease four months after becoming infected.
He said that it is very difficult to tell when a patient will feel completely healthy. Infectious disease specialist Dr. Jay Warke said, “You may have recovered from a serious illness, but you have not necessarily recovered completely.”
Dementia like symptoms:
In USA people suffered from dementia like symptoms for weeks after so called recovery from Chinese Virus. These people tend to forget things rapidly and without explanation.
However, such studies focus only on the minority of people who end up needing hospital treatment.
The Covid Symptom Tracker App used by around four million people in the UK – found 12% of people still had symptoms after 30 days. Its latest, unpublished data, suggests as many as one in 50 (2%) of all people infected have long-Covid symptoms after 90 days.
In USA, Diabetes was noted as an underlying condition for approximately 4 in 10 patients. Among people younger than 65 who died from the infection, about half had diabetes. Both type 1 and type 2 diabetics.
