Umer Khalid was arrested a day before yesterday and surprisingly he was remanded to police custody for ten days. Umer Khalid has been arrested as master mind of riots in North West Delhi in February 2020.

Umar Khalid, a post graduate, was born in Jamia Nagar, New Delhi and has lived there for the last 30 years. His father, Syed Qasim Rasool Ilyas, is from Maharashtra, while his mother is from Western Uttar Pradesh. S.Q.R. Ilyas was member of SIMI and conveniently seperated from it before it was banned as a terror sponsoring unlawful organization.

Umer Khalid last stole the lime light with his videos going viral where he was chanting support for convicted terrorists like Afzal Guru and Yakoob Memon.

The fact that court has granted his custody to police for ten days means Khalid would be taken to many places out of Delhi and it would not be convenient for police to produce him in between. Generally courts prefer to give custody for three days to ensure the safety of accused.

It is therefore possible that some more facts and involvement of more people may surface after ten days custody.

This arrest of Umer Khalid is under Unlawful Activities Prevention Act. Therefore he going to be parked in prison for long time.
