Installing Sigil Epub editor on Ubuntu Raring

Sigil the open source ebook editor.

Sigil: ePub editor.

Sigil is a very good e-book editor. In fact it has no known parallel. There are two ways to install it in Ubuntu/LinuxMint:

First method to install Sigil in Ubuntu Raring Ringtail 13.04 /LinuxMint Petra:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:sunab/sigil-git
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install sigil

Note 1: The old repository “ppa:rgibert/ebook” doesn’t work for anymore at least not for Raring.

Note 2: The Sigil requires latest qt5 library. In case of error install that too.

Second method to install Sigil in Ubuntu Raring Ringtail 13.04 /LinuxMint Petra:

In fact this method enables the installation of Sigil in Linux Debian and all supported variants. Down load this file by clicking the link:

Sigil-0.7.3-Linux-x86_64-beta.deb (43M)

After downloading the file from the above link to Google groups, Run this command in terminal, from Download folder:

Sudo dpkg -i Sigil-0.7.3-Linux-x86_64-beta.deb

That’s it. If Sigil does not appear in Menu, restart the system and it will.

All the best.
