Adverse effects of speedy justice.
Andhra Pradesh’s Guntur district in the last days of the Civil Court Judge J. A. V. V. Satyanarayana Murthy, recorded 111 cases disposed of in a day. But he incurred displeasure of a section of lawyers.
Judge is very happy with the work of common people, but a group of lawyers in Mangalagiri City Civil Court has upset him. Lawyers told him that if the decision made at this speed, they [lawyers] will become unemployed. (source: Jagran – Yahoo! India – National:: General News.)
Now if a lawyer is to be paid per date basis, he need to have a really lucrative practice to sacrifice his interest. Further where was the application of mind? 111 cases in a day means that he applied no mind at all to each case.
